SafeNet Trusted Access for Tableau Online
Configuring SafeNet Trusted Access for Tableau Online is a three-step process:
1.Tableau Online setup
2.SafeNet Trusted Access setup
As a prerequisite, download the Identity Provider metadata from the SafeNet Trusted Access Console by clicking the Download metadata file button. You will need this metadata in one of the steps mentioned below.
1. Log in to Tableau Online management Console as an administrator using the following URL: https://sso.online.tableau.com/public/idp/SSO.
2.Enter the email address, you used initially while creating your Tableau Online account.
3.After successful login, in the Tableau Online management Console, click the Settings tab.
4.In the Authentication tab, under Authentication types, select the SAML option, and click Edit Connection.
5.Under Follow the steps below to use SAML for single sign-on, perform the following steps:
b.In Step 4: Import metadata, click Browse to import the metadata file, you downloaded earlier from the SafeNet Trusted Access Console in Tableau Online.
6.Under Match Attributes, click the Apply button.
7.Next, you need to change the authentication method from Tableau to SAML. In the Users tab, perform the following steps:
a.In the Display name column, next to your name (for example, Ben Smith), click the More Actions icon, and select Authentication.
b.In the Authentication window, select safenetid.com (SAML), and click Update.
After completing the first step of configuring SafeNet Trusted Access in Tableau Online, the second step is to activate the Tableau Online application in SafeNet Trusted Access by performing the following steps:
1.In the Applications pane, you will notice that the Tableau Online application you added earlier is currently inactive state by default. To configure and activate this application, click the application (for example, Tableau Online) and proceed to the next step.
2.Under STA Setup, click Upload Tableau Online Metadata.
3.In the Metadata upload window, click Browse to search and select Tableau Online metadata, you downloaded earlier in step 5(a) of Tableau Online setup.
4.Under Account Details, service provider metadata information is displayed.
5.Click Save Configuration to save the details and activate the Tableau Online application in SafeNet Trusted Access.
Navigate to the https://sso.online.tableau.com/public/idp/SSO URL to log in to your Tableau Online portal. You will be redirected to the SafeNet Trusted Access sign-in page. Enter your primary directory login information, approve the two-factor authentication, and you should be redirected to the Tableau Online user portal after authentication.
Navigate to the User Portal URL to log in to the STA User Portal dashboard. On the dashboard, you will see a list of applications to which you have access. Click on the Tableau Online application icon, you should be redirected to the Tableau Online user portal after authentication.
