SafeNet Trusted Access for New Relic

Overview

Configuring SafeNet Trusted Access for New Relic is a three-step process:

1.New Relic setup

2.SafeNet Trusted Access setup

3.Verify authentication

New Relic Setup

As a prerequisite, download the Identity Provider Signing Certificate from the SafeNet Trusted Access console by clicking the Download X.509 Certificate button. You will need this certificate in one of the steps below.

1.Log in to the New Relic website as an administrator using the https://rpm.newrelic.com URL.

2.On the top right-hand corner, click on your account name, and then click Account settings.

3.On the Account settings window, in the left pane, click SECURITY AND AUTHENTICATION > Single sign-on.

4.On the SAML Single Sign-On window, perform the following steps:

a.Under Your SAML Identity Provider certificate, click Browse files to search and select the Identity Provider signing certificate that you downloaded earlier from the SafeNet Trusted Access console.

b.Under Your SAML identity provider details, in the Remote login URL field, enter the SINGLESIGNONSERVICE URL that is provided on the SafeNet Trusted Access console.

On the SafeNet Trusted Access console, you can copy the URL by clicking on the Copy to Clipboard icon available next to the SINGLESIGNONSERVICE field.

c.Click Save my changes.

5.Under Test your SAML configuration, click Test SAML Login. You will be redirected to the Identity Provider. Sign in with your SSO account. After successful login, you will be redirected to the New Relic website.

6.Under Enable SAML for your account, click Enable SAML login. You will be redirected to the Identity Provider. Sign in with your SSO account. After successful login, you will be redirected to the New Relic website.

Obtaining Metadata

In a web browser, open the following URL to obtain the New Relic metadata:

https://rpm.newrelic.com/accounts/<account id>/sso/saml/metadata

SafeNet Trusted Access Setup

After completing the first step of configuring SafeNet Trusted Access in New Relic, the second step is to activate the New Relic application in SafeNet Trusted Access by performing the following steps:

1.In the Applications pane, you will notice that the New Relic application you added earlier is currently in inactive state by default. To configure and activate this application, click the application (for example, New Relic) and proceed to the next step.

2.Under STA Setup, click Upload New Relic Metadata.

3.On the Metadata upload window, click Browse to search and select the New Relic metadata.

4.Under Account Details, the service provider metadata information is displayed.

5.Click Save Configuration to save the details and activate the New Relic application in SafeNet Trusted Access.

Verify Authentication

Using STA Console

Navigate to the New Relic URL, https://rpm.newrelic.com, enter your email address and click Sign In. You will be redirected to the SafeNet Trusted Access sign-in page. Enter your primary directory login information, approve the two-factor authentication, and you should be redirected to the New Relic support portal after authentication.

Using STA User Portal

Navigate to the User Portal URL to log in to the STA User Portal dashboard. On the dashboard, you will see a list of applications to which you have access. Click on the New Relic application icon, you should be redirected to the New Relic support portal after authentication.
