SafeNet Trusted Access for Datadog

Overview

Configuring SafeNet Trusted Access for Datadog is a three-step process:

1.Datadog setup

2.SafeNet Trusted Access setup

3.Verify authentication

Datadog Setup

As a prerequisite, download the Identity Provider metadata from the SafeNet Trusted Access console by clicking the Download Metadata button. You will need this metadata in one of the steps below.

Perform the following steps to configure SafeNet Trusted Access as your Identity Provider in Datadog:

1.Log in to Datadog as an administrator URL, https://app.datadoghq.com.

2.On the administrator dashboard, in the left pane, at the bottom, click on the user name (for example, ben.smith), and click Configure SAML.

3.Under Configure SAML, click Choose File to search and select the IdP metadata, and click Upload File.

4.Click Enable.

5.Under Datadog Service Provider details, perform the following steps:

a.In the Service Provider Metadata field, a Datadog URL is available (for example, https://app.datadoghq.com/account/saml/metadata.xml). In a web browser, open this URL. The Datadog metadata will be displayed.

b.Copy the entire text of the metadata. In a text editor, paste the copied text and save it as a .xml file (for example, metadata.xml) on your local machine.

6.Under Additional Features, select the Identity Provider (IdP) Initiated Login check box.

7.Click Save.

SafeNet Trusted Access Setup

After completing the first step of configuring SafeNet Trusted Access in Datadog, the second step is to activate the Datadog application in SafeNet Trusted Access by performing the following steps:

1.In the Applications pane, you will notice that the Datadog application that you added previously is currently in inactive state by default. To configure and activate this application, click the application (for example, Datadog) and proceed to the next step.

2.Under STA Setup, perform the following steps:

a.Click Upload Datadog Metadata.

b.On the Metadata upload window, click Browse to search and select the Datadog metadata that you obtained in step 5 of the Datadog Setup section.

Under Account Details, the service provider metadata information is displayed.

c.Click Save Configuration to save the details and activate the Datadog application in SafeNet Trusted Access.

Verify Authentication

Using STA Console

Navigate to the Datadog login URL (for example, https://app.datadoghq.com/account/login/id/<Company ID>). You will be redirected to the SafeNet Trusted Access sign-in page. Enter your primary directory login information, approve the two-factor authentication, and you should be redirected to Datadog after authentication.

Note:  For the IDP Initiated mode, you need to enter the ASSERTION CONSUMER SERVICE URL on the SafeNet Trusted Access console. You can generate the Assertion Consumer Service URL on the Datadog console by selecting the Identity Provider (Idp) Initiated Login check box available under the Datadog Service Provider details section.

Using STA User Portal

Navigate to the User Portal URL to log in to the STA User Portal dashboard. On the dashboard, you will see a list of applications to which you have access. Click on the Datadog application icon, you should be redirected to Datadog after authentication.
