SafeNet Trusted Access for BMC Remedyforce

Overview

Configuring SafeNet Trusted Access for BMC Remedyforce is a three-step process:

1.BMC Remedyforce setup

2.SafeNet Trusted Access setup

3.Verify authentication

BMC Remedyforce Setup

As a prerequisite, download the Identity Provider metadata from the SafeNet Trusted Access console by clicking the Download metadata file button. You will need this metadata in one of the steps below.

Perform the following steps to configure SafeNet Trusted Access as your Identity Provider in BMC Remedyforce:

1.Log in to the BMC Remedyforce administrator account using the https://login.salesforce.com/ URL and click Setup.

2.In the left pane, click Administer > Security Controls > Single Sign-On Settings.

3.In the right pane, under Single Sign-On Settings, click Edit.

4.For Federated Single Sign-on Using SAML, select the SAML Enabled check box, and then click Save.

5.Under SAML Single Sign-On Settings, click New from Metadata File to import the identity provider metadata file that you downloaded earlier from the SafeNet Trusted Access console and then click Save.

6.Click Download Metadata to download the metadata and save the xml file to your local machine.

7.In the left pane, click Administer > Domain Management > My Domain.

8.In the right pane, under My Domain > Authentication Configuration, click Edit.

9.Under Authentication Service, select the identity provider name (for example, idp) that is present in the Name field under SAML Single Sign-On Settings as displayed in step 5.

10.Click Save.

SafeNet Trusted Access Setup

After completing the first step of configuring SafeNet Trusted Access in BMC Remedyforce, the second step is to activate the BMC Remedyforce application in SafeNet Trusted Access by performing the following steps:

1.In the Applications pane, you will notice that the BMC Remedyforce application that you added previously is currently in inactive state by default. To configure and activate this application, click the application (for example, BMC Remedyforce) and proceed to the next step.

2.Under STA Setup, click Upload BMC Remedyforce Metadata.

3.In the Metadata upload window, click Browse to search and select the BMC Remedyforce metadata that you saved in step 6 of BMC Remedyforce Setup.

Under Account Details, service provider metadata information is displayed.

 

4.Click Save Configuration to save the details and activate the BMC Remedyforce application in SafeNet Trusted Access.

Verify Authentication

Using STA Console

Navigate to the BMC Remedyforce URL, https://<Your Domain Name>.my.salesforce.com, where <Your Domain Name> is the name of your organization that you registered in BMC Remedyforce. You will be redirected to the SafeNet Trusted Access sign-in page. Enter your primary directory login information, approve the two-factor authentication, and you should be redirected to the BMC Remedyforce user portal after authentication.

Using STA User Portal

Navigate to the User Portal URL to log in to the STA User Portal dashboard. On the dashboard, you will see a list of applications to which you have access. Click on the BMC Remedyforce application icon, you should be redirected to the BMC Remedyforce user portal after authentication.
